III. Leadership (Presidency - Coordination) of the Organizing Committee
The leading of the proposal is made by Assoc. Prof. S. Agathopoulos as a dual representative of
The University of Ioannina both in general and particular the Ceramic and Composite Materials Laboratory (CCL), and
The Greek Society of Biomechanics
The University of Ioannina has a very strong team that serves the aim of Ceramics and Biomaterials (CCL) as well as Bioengineering (director of the Laboratory of Bioengineering, Prof. D. Fotiadis) the issues of Biological Characterization and Orthopaedics (director of the clinics of orthoaedics Prof. A. Beris).
CCL is the strongest (the best) Laboratory on Ceramics in Greece. The research covers all types of ceramics, namely ceramics, glasses, glass-ceramics, and nano-ceramics. With regards to their applications in biomedicine, apatites, glasses (silicate, borate, phosphate), glass-ceramics (lithium disilicates, micas), composites (with degradable polymers), complex drug delivery systems and tissue engineering scaffolds are primary aims of the Laboratory.
Its excellence is proven by the high bibliographical scores:
